What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device to remember information about your visit. Related technologies — such as local storage and pixels — work similarly. This policy covers all of them, and explains how danjahn.com (the “Site”) uses them. The short version: deliberately few.
How this site uses cookies
The Site is built to minimize tracking. It does not use advertising cookies, does not run cross-site tracking, and does not sell or share browsing data for targeted advertising. The technologies in use fall into three groups:
- Strictly necessary — required for the Site to function and to keep forms secure. This includes Cloudflare Turnstile, which protects the contact, application, and assessment forms from spam and abuse and may set a cookie to verify that you are human.
- Analytics — the Site uses Vercel Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics service. It records aggregated page views and performance data without setting tracking cookies and without identifying you personally.
- Third-party embeds — when you use embedded services on specific pages, those providers may set their own cookies: Cal.com (when you choose to load the scheduler), Vimeo (when you choose to play a video), and Stripe (when you complete a payment on a Stripe-hosted checkout page). These load only after you click to use them.
Third-party cookies
Cookies set by Cal.com, Vimeo, Stripe, and Cloudflare are governed by those companies' own cookie and privacy policies. I do not control them and receive no advertising data from them. If you prefer not to interact with these services, you can contact me directly by email instead of using the embedded scheduler, and payment arrangements can be discussed individually.
Managing cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings — including blocking all cookies, clearing existing ones, or receiving a warning before a cookie is stored. Instructions are available in the help documentation of every major browser. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent the forms on this Site from working, because the spam-protection check will be unable to complete.
Do Not Track and opt-out signals
Because the Site does not perform cross-site tracking or sell personal data, there is nothing additional to disable when your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal — the Site already behaves the way those signals request.
Changes to this policy
If the Site's use of cookies changes — for example, if a new embedded service is added — this policy will be updated and the “Last updated” date at the top of this page revised.
